Subi Beauty Perfect Pimple Patch Review

Subi Beauty Perfect Pimple Patch Review

Thinner is not always better, but when it comes to pimple patches – it is! If you’re still using yours at night, the concept of wearing an acne patch around during the day might sound crazy.

But what about if that patch was practically invisible?

That’s the question the team asked when creating Perfect Pimple Patch – a 100% cruelty-free, vegan, alcohol-free, drug-free patch product that’s taking over Instagram feeds.

What Is It?

Subi Perfect Pimple Patch

“Subi” means “defence” in Korean and that’s exactly what Subi products do – act as a defence for your skin.

Perfect Pimple Patch is the first release and has a silicone-free, paraben-free, fungal-acne safe formula. It’s designed to treat pimples quickly and safely with as minimal fuss as possible.

What’s In It?

The full ingredients list is:

“Cellulose gum, styrene isoprene, styrene block copolymer, polyisobutylene, petroleum resin, polyurethane film liquid, paraffin, tetrakis methane.”

Short and sweet!

In addition to being vegan and cruelty-free, it skips out on drying ingredients.

Many of the ingredients commonly found in anti-acne products (like benzoyl peroxide, calamine lotion and salicylic acid) work by drying the skin out. Perfect Pimple Patch instead work by trapping the liquid from pimples with heads inside the patch itself.

This is perfect for those who find regular anti-acne products irritating or those looking for drug free options. This is a win for pregnant and breastfeeding mums because they can’t reach for Vitamin A.

How Do You Use It?

Unlike some acne patch products, these are designed to treat whiteheads. They are the bumpy pimples that appear on the surface of the skin. You know, the juicy ones that are so tempting to just pop! However, whiteheads aren’t the same thing as cysts or nodules because those occur deep below the skin.

Instead, hydrocolloid works best on pimples like this that have already come to a head. If your pimple is still underneath the skin then skip applying a patch. Same thing if your spot takes the form of a “blind pimple” (with no visible head).

Once you’ve identified the pimple you want to get rid of, start by cleansing your face thoroughly. Dry the whole area to be treated.

When it comes to pimple patches, it is important to double cleanse the skin (with an oil cleanser first, followed by a foam cleanser).Make sure also that you’re using pH balanced 5.5 products. If not, your skin might be too oily for the product to adhere properly to the skin.

Apply a spot patch directly over the pimple and press down lightly to make sure the sides have stuck down. (Hack – Perfect Pimple Patches actually come with perforated lines on the plastic backing sheet, so you can crack the backing sheet in half to easily pull the patches off without ruining them).

The best way to tell when your patch is ready to be removed is to wait for it to turn milky white or opaque. This indicates that the pus from the pimple has been absorbed onto the patch or when the edges of the patch start coming loose.

If your patch was particularly milky, you’re probably going to want to apply another one to absorb any leftover pus.

What Does It Actually Do?

It is hard to believe something so thin has the capacity to absorb so much gunk from the skin, but the proof is in the pudding!

The key is to make sure you leave them on for long enough and don’t rip them off too early – if you do, you risk interrupting the skin’s healing.

They need time to actually absorb everything.

If you pull them off too early, they’ll only be halfway through the job so the gunk won’t have been fully absorbed onto the patch. You might find it still sitting on top of the skin, the pimple having been destroyed in a goopy, mess. This is easy enough to wipe away but when you leave them on longer the real magic happens. They’ll suck the life out of the pimple and even close the hole over afterwards as a courtesy :p

In terms of visibility, Perfect Pimple Patches are thin and transparent. They work really well on a variety of skin shades, although being translucent they do show up more on darker skin types.

They come in just one size – 10mm – but that’s because it’s the size most people reach for most often.

TL;DR

If you don’t like going patch free during the day because your pimple is still there, the transparency of Perfect Pimple Patch will be a god-send! You can treat your pimple on the go, without anyone else in the know.

Provided you apply them to the skin properly in the first place, they’ll stay in place for days if you leave them be. We’ve tested them at the gym, under makeup, in the shower and more and they haven’t budged an inch.

Plus, cute holo packaging that gives you something to look forward to is a win.
