How To Double Cleanse By Skin Concern

How To Double Cleanse By Skin Concern

The Double Cleansing Method is a two-step process that involves washing your face with an oil-based cleanser, followed by a water-based one. Using two different cleansers at night might sound extra but in fact both steps serve an important purpose – the first is designed to remove makeup and SPF, while the second removes leftover debris for cleaner, softer, and smoother skin.

Here’s How to Double Cleanse by Skin Concern:

The Two Steps

In case you’re new to the 2 Step Cleanse, here’s what you need to know in a nutshell:

Step 1: Oil Based Cleanser

The Double Cleanse Method starts with an oil based cleanser, which is typically applied to dry skin. The cleanser can be in solid (i.e. in a balm form) or a liquid (i.e a watery oil). It is used to remove oil-based impurities, SPF and water resistant makeup. It gently draws out debris and pollutants without the need for harsh scrubbing or tugging at the skin, which isn’t great for your pores.

Some people advocate using an oil-based cleanser night and day, but the reality is that unless you have really oily skin or sweat in your sleep, you probably won’t need to do this step in the morning.

Step 2: Water-Based Cleanser

As a second step, follow up with a water-based cleanser, either a foaming or non-foaming type. This is used to remove water-based residue including sweat and dirt, drawing out water-based debris and cleansing your face a second time for a deeper, more thorough cleanse.

This easy step can be done twice a day, both in the morning and at night.
