Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash Review
This Korean Beauty Face Wash Has Been Gaining Popularity In The Asian Beauty World For Several Years Now.
With Beauty Bloggers From Seoul To Sydney Raving About It, Style Story Is Taking A Look At Why This Cleanser Is So Popular And What It Actually Does.
With a perfectly balanced pH of 5.5, Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash works wonders on sensitive, hypoallergenic and acne-prone skin, while also being gentle on the skin’s barrier (sometimes referred to as the “acid mantle“).
If a face wash is not pH balanced, it can weaken the structure of your skin’s acid mantle – or barrier – when you wash your face with it. With your skin’s barrier weakened, your skin can become prone to attack and allow bacteria to breed. This is bad news for those of us with acne-prone skin and roseacea, because these conditions can be exacerbated by using an “unbalanced” cleansing foam.
Because Tosowoong’s Enzyme Powder Wash is properly pH balanced, this means that even if you wash sensitive skin with it, it won’t weaken or damage it any further.
Okay, got it!
But why does it come in a powder form and what is a powder wash?!

A powder wash is just a regular face wash that comes in powder form. Rather than coming in a liquid like most face washes, this one comes crushed up in tiny powder-like granules.
To make it into a cleanser, you simply add water to it! It then lathers up and you can apply it to your face. You just wash like you would with a regular cleanser! Powder washes are great for travelling, because they are super lightweight. The fact that they don’t have liquid in them means also that they won’t squirt everywhere and you also won’t need to declare them to get past TSA.
In a nutshell, Tosowoong’s Enzyme Powder Wash works by eliminating the build-up of dirt and grime in your pores. It leaves your skin fresh and ‘squeaky clean’ but without disrupting the skin’s barrier like some “unbalanced” face washes do.
It cleans skin thoroughly but also won’t strip it of its natural oils, which can be too drying.
It contains two star ingredients:
Papain – a mild enzyme exfoliant derived from papayas – which helps soften your skin to make it silky smooth.
Vitamin E – an antioxidant and skin-conditioning active ingredient that is great for creating softer skin.
Tosowoong’s Enzyme Powder Wash is surprisingly simple to use. All you need to do is:
1 Shake a small amount of it into the palm of your hand or onto a damp cleansing tool.
2 Add water and lather.
3 Once you have worked the lather into a soft foam, gently massage it into your face and neck for a few minutes.
4 Rinse thoroughly.
If you’re following the Korean 2 Step Cleansing Method, you’ll want to use this as your Second Cleanser. It’s also perfect to use in the morning.
Launched in 2004, Tosowoong is a Korean beauty label that emphasises proven, KFDA-certified “functional” ingredients in simple formulations. It offers a broad selection of products, from skincare items to makeup, as well as cleansing tools and accessories. The brand is extremely popular in Korea and overseas, with hit products including a range of “Pure” masks, the Enzyme Powder Wash and the Tosowoong Sparkle Propolis Ampoule.
