Beauty Crew discussed the K-Beauty phenomenon and Korea’s continual dedication to revolutionizing skin care. They sat down with Australia's Kbeauty experts, STYLE STORY, to discuss the latest beauty trends and innovations.
We talked about the all-dreaded and, unfortunately these days, all too common ‘maskne’ and how Koreans are turning to ‘low-irritation cosmetics’ which are designed to soothe the skin and reduce inflammation.
Highlighted SS products included the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch ( - we are currently sold out but equally recommend the Subi Perfect Pimple Patches).
Both of these pimple patches are made of hydrocolloid and are designed to draw out the infection while healing the skin at the same time. The result? A shorter lifespan for your pimple and a highly reduced chance of scarring. What’s not to love?
Subi Perfect Pimple Patches are only $11 for 18 premium patches.
We also talked about the current shift towards streamlining the steps. Often feared due to the extensive, and at times excessive “steps” involved, K-Beauty is now moving towards newer formulations which combine the benefits of several products into one.
Cue; Jelly Ko’s Bubble Tea Steam Cream this 3-in-1 formula replaces oil, serum and moisturizer in your routine. This helps cut down the steps of your routine and contributes to less waste in both packaging and carbon emissions in transportation.
Yuzu is first off the list (otherwise referred to as Yuja in Korea) It’s a type of citrus fruit that is naturally full of Vitamin C, great for brightening dull skin, dark spots and pigmentation (which is often a big problem for Australians due to our unforgiving sun).
Another star ingredient currently on the rise is Cica (aka Centella asiatica) which is perfect for soothing weary, irritated, damaged, red and acne prone skin. Cica can be found in our best-selling Subi Brightening Powder Cleanser This lightweight, ultra-versatile powder cleanser is the gentle, everyday cleanser your skin has been craving this lockdown.
"Whether Korean’s are teaching us how to have skin so clear it resembles literal glass or dishing out factoids about unusual yet effective ingredients, (who knew snail mucin had so many skin care benefits?) Korea is just a cut above the rest when it comes to revolutionary beauty finds."
