This serum went viral in Korea after it was revealed to be the secret behind many Korean airline hostesses’ beautifully hydrated complexions. According to the hype, it’s strong enough to combat dry cabin air, which is why Korean stewardess’ love spraying it throughout their long-haul flights, and upon landing to revive their skin.
SS Founder Lauren put Korea’s stewardess serum to the test in Seoul’s harsh winter weather to see whether it lives up to its claims!
d’Alba Piedmont White Truffle First Spray Serum.
“It’s a serum that comes in a handy misting bottle.
The packaging is a sturdy plastic that looks like glass and has a gold mist cap. It’s functional and beautiful and works to evenly distribute the mist in a nice stream.
First Spray Serum contains exactly 100ml of product, making it a great size to travel with. I keep it in my handbag for touch-ups throughout the day and there’s no problem packing it in cabin luggage when flying. This is a massive plus for me, as I like to fly with my favourite products but often end up having to decant them, which is time consuming and can get a bit messy.
My skin dries out terribly in flight and with the direct flight from Brisbane to Seoul taking 10 hours, that’s more than enough time for that dry cabin air to wreak havoc on my skin….!”
d’Alba claims that their First Spray Serum “helps to reduce wrinkles, brighten skin and supply moisture.”
The full ingredients list includes:
“Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, 1,2-hexanediol, Niacinamide, Sorbitol, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/leaf/stem Extract, Betaine, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Butylene Glycol, Tuber Magnatum Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Vegetable Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium Edta, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Adenosine, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Alcohol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Primula Veris Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Saussurea Involucrata Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Freesia Refracta Extract, Carbomer, Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, Arginine, Potassium Sorbate, Bixa Orellana Seed Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Tocopherol”
“It’s made on a base of white truffles and lotus with avocado oil. Avocado oil is rich in fatty acids, making it an excellent natural moisturiser. Other nourishing oils include sunflower seed oil, vegetable oil and soybean oil.
Sodium Hyaluronate is another humectant, which attracts and binds water to the skin. Niacinamide is in the formula for brightening and targeting pigmentation, and the signature white truffle is designed to keep skin firm and elastic.
Another standout is adenosine – a yeast-derived ingredient that functions as a skin soothing and restoring agent.
The formula is thankfully free of parabens, mineral oils, silicones, synthetic dyes and synthetic fragrances, making it perfect for my sensitive skin.”
“The serum has a layer of oils sitting on top, so you need to shake it first to distribute the ingredients, and then you can mist away.
I usually hold the bottle around 20cm away from my face and give it a few good sprays.
Seoul’s winter is notoriously dry and harsh, particularly on my skin, so I’m pretty liberal at applying it throughout the day. I pack it in my bag and always have a bottle on my desk beside me as well.
You can use the serum as part of your skincare routine, but I have a few other serums I’m testing out at the moment, so I use this as a mist instead.”
“Words can’t express my love for this mist!!
If a skincare product can cut through both my naturally dry, sensitive skin and Seoul’s winter and come out on top, that product is a winner in my books. I can totally see why all the Korean air hostesses are raving about it – it’s gone straight to the top of my favourites list as well and become an absolute staple in my routine.
If you’re looking for a product to really cut through air-conditioning, heating, dry cabin air or naturally dry skin and just leave your skin soft and glowing, I highly recommend this serum.
There are plenty of products claiming to give you glass skin on the market these days – this spray serum actually delivers.”
For best results, pair it with our number one selling moisturiser, Bubble Tea Steam Cream, and see the difference in the look, texture and feel of your skin for yourself!
