APLB is a company I have been impressed with since I met them several years ago at K-Beauty expo. They’re dedicated to creating gentle skincare products and make 7 core promises to customers:
1. Creating products for all skin types
2. Continued research and innovation
3. Focusing on natural ingredients
4. Advancing the science of fermented skincare
5. The best quality control
6. Visible results
7. Science-backed formulas
Subi means ‘defence’ in Korean and that’s what Subi does – create products that offer a defence for your skin.
Combining the latest Korean skincare technology with Australia’s no fuss, minimalist approach to skincare and ingredients, the runaway bestseller for STYLE STORY in 2020 was Subi Perfect Pimple Patch.
Made with 100% medical-grade hydrocolloid, this luxury pimple patch is the thinnest, most invisible patch on the market. It’s also a favourite of the Body+Soul team. Particularly good for pimples in hard to reach places (like around your mouth or side of your nose), Subi patches will reduce the size of most pimples overnight.
B-Lab (short for ‘Bathroom LABoratory’) has a specialist cleansing range ‘I Am Sorry Just Cleansing’ – it focuses solely on cleansing products (hence the “just cleansing”). The products are perfect for the two-step Korean double cleanse.
For step one (to remove makeup or sunscreen), try B-Lab’s Cleansing Oil. It gently draws out debris and pollutants without leaving your skin feeling greasy.
To finish off, try B-Lab’s Natural Cleansing Foam. This mild cleansing foam whips up into a luxuriously thick formula. It’s free from parabens, sulfates and alcohol, making it suitable for all skin types.
The little sister brand of Sephora favourite Caolion, JJ Young’s products are all designed with one purpose in mind – treating pores by removing impurities and excess sebum.
The brand uses star ingredients charcoal, volcanic ash and kaolin to soak up oils, unclog blackheads and remove impurities to promote shine-free skin! Given the great price point and the fact that they use most of the same technology as Caolion itself, they are an underrated brand.
The only makeup-specific brand to make it to the list, this brand has really been gaining steam in the last year.
Not only does it make lip products that knock high-end brands like YSL out of the water, all of the products I’ve tried from them have been top-notch in quality and performance. I have been really impressed with the formulas given their really affordable prices.
The brand is not only popular domestically, but seems to be really cutting through in the international market as well, which is very rare for a K-Beauty brand. Most brands seem to hit it big in one market first. I’m excited to see what they come out with next.
Jelly Ko is the culmination of nearly 10 years of industry expertise, with formulations based on extensive data and market research from tens of thousands of K-Beauty lovers.
Designed with the aim of creating daily skincare products that everyone can use, Jelly Ko takes it back to basics by making high quality products that can be enjoyed and used by everyone, no matter their skin type.
We have plenty of exciting launches planned for 2021, so stay tuned!
