As the popularity of Korean beauty continues to grow overseas so too does the popularity of Korean ingredients. Which 3 are taking off overseas? Tune into find out. Plus, we’re discussing a popular K-Beauty toner that’s breaking a lot of people out, the best Korean Vitamin C serums and more.
Korean site Beauty Nury is reporting that as K-beauty grows overseas, global interest in Korean ingredients is also increasing.
More and more brands are releasing products that use ingredients with a distinct Korean flavour, such as red ginseng and ginseng.
After the record-breaking success of some K-Beauty brands using traditional Korean ingredients overseas, even more brands are exporting their products and brands in a way that differentiates them from the local markets by adding Korean-style ingredients. They noted:
"In particular, Korean ingredients are brought to the fore, emphasizing the efficacy, eco-friendliness, and high function of Korean ingredients."
Tangerine is an ingredient that incorporates Jeju green tangerines, which can only be collected for four weeks in a year. Not only are they rich in various vitamins and contain more vitamin C than ordinary tangerines, they are also effective for targeting dark spots and blemishes
Korean companies are engaging in a number of methods to gain traction overseas, including marketing with global brand ambassadors (like celebrities and K-pop stars), focusing on ecommerce platforms like Amazon and hosting international events
Elle Magazine Rounds Up the Best Korean Vitamin C Serums
I was featured in a roundup by Elle Magazine Australia entitled "Vitamin C Serums: 7 Korean Vitamin C Serums that will make your skin look dangerously good"
Vitamin C serums are one of the key steps in the typical Korean beauty routine and for good reason - with their free-radical fighting properties and capacity to help produce collagen naturally they pack a punch
The simple answer is yes - anything can break anyone out.
However, this one in particular seems to be that your skin either loves it or hates it
It also just goes to show that just because an ingredient that promises skin soothing (i.e. heartleaf) is in the formula it doesn’t mean it will be soothing for everyone
"This mask smells heavenly. I love the texture and feel of it on my face. I'm skeptical of products like this but this one has actually made a difference and given me the results I am hoping for. It makes skin look plump, hydrated and moisturized the next day. Highly recommend!"
Recommendation of the Week
If you’re in the northern hemisphere: time to make sure you've got an SPF in place for the warmer months of the year that you're enjoying, that works for your skin and that you’re applying properly, with the adequate amount - around 3 finger lengths.
If you’re in the southern hemisphere, time to start thinking about heavier textures for your serums and moisturisers for the colder months of the year. If you're after inspiration, check out our previous blog post on the best K-Beauty routine for winter.
