I grew up in the 60s and 70s in Australia when we used to lie out in the sun covered in baby oil to tan. Back then, we didn’t know about sunscreen or the dangers of sunbathing. A lifetime under the sun definitely took its toll on my skin, so now I need to take care of sun spots, wrinkles, fine lines and pigmentation. I’ve even had a few skin cancers cut out recently, which is becoming quite common for Australians my age.
My key concerns are to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay and minimise the effects of my years in the sun.
My mornings are busy, so I keep my skincare routine as simple as possible:
Cleansing: I start with Subi Brightening Powder Cleanser. This cleanser is so gentle and comes in powder form, so it doubles as an exfoliator. It’s fantastic to travel with as it doesn’t spill or squirt everywhere!
Tone: As I’ve aged, my skin has become quite dry, so I like to hydrate it at every possible step of my routine. I use Jelly Ko's Dewy Glaze Toner.
Essence: I’ve been using snail-based Korean Beauty products for around 7 years now and I love Benton Snail Bee High Content Skin Essence. Since using it I really have noticed an improvement in my skin tone.
Sunscreen: Now that I know the dangers of the sun, I’m a big believer in sunscreen. I use an Australian TGA listed sunscreen every day.
I follow up with my Primer (to cover pigmentation) and apply Missha’s M Perfect Cover BB Cream in Shade 23.

At night, I take the time to do a full skincare routine. I find it really relaxing to wind down from a long day and also take a little time for myself.
Cleanse: I use my Tosowoong’s Enzyme Powder Washagain at night, as well as a VDL Eye and Lipstick makeup remover, which I discovered last year in Korea.
Tone and Essence: I repeat the same products from my morning routine again at night.
Serum: I love galactomyces (a form of yeast extract) because it tones, moisturises and targets wrinkles. It’s the same ingredient in SKII’s First Treatment Essence.
Night Cream: My dry skin drinks up Jelly Ko's Bubble Tea Steam Cream. This is such a great moisturiser for dry and mature skin types. I’ve even recommended it to my friends, as well as my sister-in-law who lives in Canberra.
Masks: I love trying new Korean masks! It’s impossible to pick a favourite. I use a sleeping mask before a big event or to relax in a hot bath with a glass of wine!
