Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream Review

Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream Review

If you suffer from excessively dry skin, especially of the reactive type, you’ll know the struggle to find a moisturiser that actually cuts through the dry, flaky layers to impart deep hydration.

If you’re on the lookout for a hard-working moisturiser that will intensively repair, hydrate and nourish, then read on – as Dr Jart+ may just have found the recipe!

What Is It?

Dr Jart Ceramidin™ Cream.

It’s a moisturiser that comes in a 50ml squeezy tube with a twisted cap lid. It’s easy to travel with because it’s under the cabin luggage restriction size and won’t squirt everywhere either.

What Does It Claim To Do?

Dr Jart claims that its Ceramidin Cream is “supercharged with 5-cera complex that helps visibly strengthens skin and shield from water and moisture loss.”

What’s In It?

The full ingredients list includes:

“Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), Hydrogenated Polydecene, Methyl Trimethicone, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Vegetable Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Ceramide NP, Stearic Acid, Algae Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract, Cetearyl Glucoside, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Butylene Glycol, C12-16 Alcohols, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Malt Extract, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Throbroma Caco (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Curuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract, Pteris Multifida Extract, Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Pyracantha Fortuneana Fruit Extract, Glycerly Polymethacrylate, Cholesterol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Sodium Hyaluronate, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Fructooligosaccharides, Beta-Glucan, Dextrin, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Polyquaternium-51, Raffinose, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Folic Acid, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, T***, Ceramide AP, Ceramide AS, Ceramide NS, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Ceramide EOP.”

The first thing to note is that this 2018 version is an upgrade. The old version of Ceramidin Cream had Ceramide 3 (also known as Ceramide NP) as its key ingredient, whereas the new version has a whoooole heap of new ceramides added, including Ceramide AP, Ceramide AS and Ceramide NS.

Licorice root extract is in there to brighten dull skin, soothe and calm redness. Tumeric root extract assists with inflammation, while Portulaca oleracea and Aloe vera calm irritated skin and hydrate. Panthenol, an ingredient commonly found in baby products both alleviates inflammation and softens skin.

If you’re sensitive to parabens, sulfates or phthalates you’ll be happy to know that there’s none of them in the formula.

How Do You Use It?

It’s a moisturiser, so it’s designed to be applied as the last step in your basic skincare routine. The ideal method of application is to warm it in your hands first, and then press it gently into your face.

The texture itself is thick, but maleable and if you have truly dry skin, you’ll find it absorbs pretty much straight away.

Similarly, you won’t find this moisturiser too heavy to use both night and day.

What Results Will You Notice?

Immediately upon applying the cream, you get the sense that this moisturiser is different from others. It feels thick, but once it melts into the skin it actually feels deeply hydrating. That tight, uncomfortable sensation and any itchiness is immediately relieved. As the hours go by, your skin feels plump and smooth, which is almost miraculous if you’re used to regularly reapplying your moisturiser several times a day.

Dr Jart claims that the cream releases its ingredients over time so that you don’t have to reapply, and based on our testing, this claim seems to be true.

Who Should Use It?

People with atopic dermatitis

Anyone with flaky, tight or itchy skin

Those who suffer from chronic dryness
