Beauty Of Joseon Revitalize Sleeping Mask Review

We were so excited to hear that cult-fav K-Beauty brand Beauty of Joseonwas releasing a sleeping mask to go with its Dynasty Cream!

Not only are we massive fans of sleeping masks in general (what’s not to like about a product that goes to work while you go to sleep!) but Beauty of Joseon has been a staple for creating the glass skin trend everyone is going crazy about for years.

Today, we’re doing a Beauty of Joseon Revitalize Sleeping Mask review, putting this product to the test to see if it lives up to the hype of Beauty Of Joseon’s cult classic Dynasty Cream.

What Is It?

Beauty of Joseon Revitalize Sleeping Mask.

As the name suggest, it’s a sleeping mask that’s designed to be applied last thing at night before you go to sleep.

It comes in a generous 80ml size, and has an inner lid that keeps the ingredients air-free, as well as its own spatula.

The packaging is just to.die.for (Beauty of Josoen, y u do dis?!)

The glass jar comes covered with Korean traditional style paper (known as “Hanji”) that looks elegant and makes for the most beautiful #shelfies. You can simply remove this before using the jar, and either reapply it (or not).

The outer box follows a similar style, with a pretty purple layer at the top that also looks like Hanji.

Beauty of Joseon’s logo is written in Korean script (Hangeul), but the English instructions and ingredients are all printed down the side.

What Does It Claim To Do?

Beauty of Joseon claims that its sleeping mask creates bouncy, elastic skin overnight while you sleep with its unique memory-form structure.

What’s In It?

The full ingredients list includes:

“Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Niacinamide, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG-240/HDI Copolymer Bis-Decyltetradeceth-20 Ether, Betaine, Trehalose, Urea, Sodium Hyaluronate, Saccharide Isomerate, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Dimethiconol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Orchid Extract, Honey Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Glycine Max (Soybean) Seed Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Beta-Glucan, Phenoxyethanol”

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) comes right towards the top of the list, which is great for those of us looking to brighten up our complexion. This is a powerful antioxidant that acts as an anti-inflammatory, improves skin elasticity, enhances the barrier function and helps even out skin tone.

The formula also includes Betaine, a type of amino acid that provides intense moisture and hydration to the skin, without leaving it feeling sticky. It also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as relieving skin irritation.

Trehalose is in the formula to act as a humectant – an ingredient that supplies concentrated hydration to the skin to help it retain moisture and prevent it from drying out, as well as sodium hyaluronate and Isomerate (Pentavitin™).

Orchid extract has been used in Korean skincare products since the Joseon Dynasty and offers moisturising, smoothing and softening benefits, plus an antioxidant boost.

Honey has both antibacterial and moisturising properties, making it ideal for those with acne-prone skin, as does Beta-Glucan.

Adenosine is another helpful ingredient for anti-aging, anti-wrinkle and anti-inflammatory. Down the bottom of the list, standouts include black soybean – a source of vitamin E that offers moisturising benefits and Korean favourite Ginseng, a herbal root that gives dull, rough complexions a brighter, more youthful bounce.

How Do You Use It?

After completing the steps in your night time skincare routine, take the spatula provided and scoop out a small amount of Revitalize Sleeping Mask. Massage it into your face and neck.

The texture is cool and jelly-like, but melts straight into the skin and leaves it feeling light and airy. If you look back at the jar you’ll notice that the unique “memory-form” texture springs back into place where the spatula once was, causing it to return to its original shape!

Playing with the squidgy texture and watching it spring back into place seriously doesn’t get old..:p) BUT it also has the dual benefit of physically firming and tightening the skin as well.

Who Should Use It?

Revitalize Sleeping Mask is ideal for those with:

  • Dry skin (when layering with other products)
  • Oily skin
  • Skin damaged by air-conditioning and heating

Who Shouldn’t Use It?

Anyone who reacts badly to silicons.

What Results Will You Notice From Using It?

Immediately after applying the sleeping mask to your face, you’ll notice that your skin looks instantly more hydrated. We even tried it out on actually flaking, dry skin and the result was quite incredible. Within 30 seconds, the skin looked plumper, softer and visibly healthier. It also immediately imparts a light glow on the skin, making your complexion look more smooth.

Long term, the sleeping mask keeps skin nicely hydrated but it isn’t a thick, heavy or occlusive type cream. This makes it perfect for those suffering from oily skin or acne, or for those of us who live in humid climates, as it really does help to balance out overproduction of oil, while giving your skin the moisture it needs. This is in contrast to the Dynasty Cream formula, making the Revitalize Sleeping Mask an option for people who didn’t find Dynasty Cream a good match.

If you suffer from dry skin, this sleeping mask layers really nicely with other skincare products, but probably wouldn’t be hydrating enough to skip your regular moisturiser – keep it as an extra layer, providing brightening, soothing, amino acids and antioxidants.

Final Verdict?

This is the perfect sleeping mask for those looking to avoid heavy, occlusive creams and provides multiple benefits including hydration, brightening and anti-aging. It’s particularly awesome for those with oily and acne-prone skin as it helps balance your skin’s oil and moisture levels.

TL;DR

If you like pretty skincare products that work as well on the skin as they look in the jar, you’ll also be obsessed with this mask. Even if you weren’t a fan of Beauty of Joseon’s Dynasty Cream, the oily skin-friendly ingredients make it a good fit for different skin types. Did we mention you’ll also get hours of fun out of watching the texture spring back into place once you touch it?!
