Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide Review
Today, we're taking a look at a new serum from Korean Beauty Brand Beauty of Joseon. If you've been looking for a Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide review then you're in the right spot.
Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide
Using Kbeauty techniques from Korea's Joseon dynasty, this serum is infused with 60% Propolis extract and 2% Niacinamide.
It comes in a sturdy 30ml bottle with a drop applicator for easy use. With everyday use this product would last around 2 months.
The brand claims that this serum is "made with EWG Grade ingredients" to calm and hydrate the skin. For more on the EWG and its role in the Korean beauty industry more generally, take a listen to this episode of the Korean Beauty Show podcast.
Beauty of Joseon's Propolis Serum claims to "control sebum levels, refine pores, and target dark spots."
It works by removing excess oil from the skin, balancing out and soothing problematic skin while maintaining moisture levels.
After cleansing and toning your face, pop on a small amount of BOJ propolis serum. I found that I could incorporate this into my morning or nightly routine because it plays well with other skincare products. You won't need to worry about product interactions when using this in your skincare routine either.
It works nicely with both retinol, Vitamin Cand other actives. Just watch your percentages of niacinamide if you use a lot of other niacinamide products in your routine because this one contains 2% of niacinamide as well, which is a functional amount.
Use the drop applicator when applying it to avoid spillage (but make sure not to touch it to your face because that can get unhygienic).
Massage the serum into your face and then lightly tap the skin to aid with absorption.
Immediately after using it, I noticed a reduction in sebum. My skin didn't feel sticky, dry or stripped bare. Instead, it felt bouncy and hydrated.
I used it every day for several weeks and noticed that my skin felt calmer.
While it won’t cure hormonal acne, it will help with the kinds of pimples that build up as a result of excessive oiliness and dirt in the skin. I also noticed a reduction in dull skin.
The full ingredients list of Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum: Propolis & Niacinamide includes:
The key ingredient is Propolis extract, which is known for its restorative qualities,. It is also an antioxidant, and has properties that benefit problem skin.
Niacinamide is an ingredient which needs no introduction. It can help to both reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and helps build the keratin that keeps the skin firm and healthy.
Tamanu Oil is another excellent ingredient for acne prone skin. Rich in fatty acids, it locks moisture in by acting as a barrier. It also has benefits for those with skin sensitivities.
Betaine Salicylate is a type of BHA commonly used in Kbeauty products to help improve breakouts. It works to reduce blackheads by preventing the formation of clogged pores.
Some other important points to note is that Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide Serum is cruelty free and free of parabens.
If you suffer from breakouts or congestion than Beauty of Joseon's Propolis Serum deserves a spot in your routine.
After a few weeks of use, I noticed a clearer, healthier and smoother complexion, especially when used in tandem with Jelly Ko Bubble Tea Steam Cream. These two products work so nicely together to give your skin that Kbeauty glow.
The only complain I have is that it only comes in a 30ml size, which is not as big as other Kbeauty propolis serums on the market. It's a bit annoying to have to replace your serum so frequently and I also worry about the impact on the environment. However, the price is very economical so that's a plus.
