If you’re keen to learn more about the most popular Korean hair care products plus some interesting facts about the domestic hair care industry in Korea, then stick around. On episode 260 of the Korean Beauty Show podcast, we’re covering the hottest products, some categories you might not have heard of plus a few surprising things you may not know about Korea’s hair care industry.
First and foremost I think it’s important to acknowledge a couple of things about Korean hair care. Number one is that Koreans themselves love a range of foreign brands when it comes to their haircare.
Popular foreign brands include L’Oreal Paris, Tsubaki, Head & Shoulders, Lush, Pantene, Kerasys, Batiste, Wella Professional, Klorane, Moroccan Oil, Tangle Angel, Urban Tribe, Aveda and many other brands you likely recognise and can easily purchase. These brands all won Glow Pick Awards in Korea in 2024 as well.
The second thing is that purchasing and shipping haircare products from overseas is arguably not the most sustainable practice. Hair care products tend to be big, bulky and extremely heavy, which isn’t great for carbon emissions in transit and not generally the most sustainable way to consume hair care products.
If possible, I recommend sticking to products that can be purchased locally or at least try and buy from local Korean beauty stores who have probably already shipped the products there by sea rather than relying on air freight.
This product has an average 4.73 star rating on Glow Pick and was also the winner of a Glow Pick Award 2024.
People say the scent smells luxurious (with floral / fruity hints) and also that it smells quite summery. Fans of the shampoo love that it is easy to bubble up.
This damage repair shampoo was another Glow Pick Award winner and also has an average 4.45 star rating on Glow Pick at the time of recording. Consumers say that it makes their hair soft and cleans the hair well as well.
They mention that the product has a floral fragrance that smells quite luxe and that the fragrance is long lasting. Some people describe the fragrance as "quite sweet smelling".
This purifying shampoo uses 7 year aged fermented vinegar and has a herbal / Hanbang scent that users describe as "fresh and soft" and "not too overpowering".
It has an average 4.51 star rating on Glow Pick and was the winner of a Glow Pick Award 2024.
Overall feedback is that it is "nice to use".
This anti-hair loss shampoo claims to improve symptoms of hair loss within 2 weeks and users agree, saying they did notice an improvement in hair loss.

This hair voluminizing shampoo maintains a 4.35 star rating on Glow Pick and was another winner in last year's Glow Pick Awards (coming in at third place).
In addition to providing the hair with volume, users say it improves hair loss and gives strength to the scalp. They like that it is gentle and pH balanced.
The winner of Korea's perfumed hair care cateogry, this shampoo maintains a 4.31 star rating on Glow Pick. However, users say the scent is either love it or hate it. It's quite woody and, as you would expect from a perfumed shampoo, lasts a while.
Interestingly, the most popular hair masks in 2024 were all foreign products. Tsubaki Premium Hair Mask is the most popular and I would agree with that to be honest. It’s a great product; very nourishing, intensive and doesn’t leave your hair stringy or greasy.
Another one that is very similar is the Fino hair mask. I can highly recommend both of these to people like me who find a lot of traditional hair masks to make your hair greasy and weigh it down.
This is a leave in (no wash treatment) that is designed to make your scalp healthier. Reviewers said their hair got softer and less tangled after using it and that their scalp felt calmer.

Miseenscene is a popular local skincare brand that makes products at a range of affordable prices.
This product is ideal for those with a damaged scalp. Users say it makes your hair softer and provides basic care for damaged roots
It maintains an impressive 4.58 star rating on Glow Pick and was also a Glow Pick Award Winner 2024
This is a hair scaler that contains natural BHAs, which provide scalp scaling.Users say it makes their scalp feel cleaner, exfoliates the scalp well and has a nice cooling sensation. It also helps to maintain control of sebum on the scalp.
The product has a4.65 star rating on Glow Pick and was aGlow Pick Award Winner in 2024.
Aromatica is another extremely popular local brand that makes a wide range of natural hair care products. This particular product is supposed to prevent hair fall and improve scalp itchiness.
The entire Aromatic Rosemary line is very popular, as evidenced by the 4.45 star rating it has on Glow Pick and the fact that it picked up a 2024 Glow Pick Award.
Unove really made a bang in 2024 and a lot of people has asked me for my thoughts on the brand. It was one of the biggest winners in the haircare category in 2024 and also has a high rating of 4.46 stars on Glow Pick.
When it comes to this silk oil, people love the fragrance and the fact that it sticks around for a while but is not overpowering.
Through clinical trials, Longtake Sandalwood Hair oil not only protects against heat damage up to 450F and improves split ends by 30%, but also improves hair tangles by 40% and has been confirmed to have a repair care effect.
People say that they love the fragrance, which is of wood / sandalwood.
It took home a Glow Pick Award last year and has a 4.33 star rating on Glow Pick.
Another hit from Unove in 2024 was this lightweight, no-rinse protein water mist thathydrates and refreshes dry, dull hair, leaving it soft, shiny, and frizz-free.
People say that its good for use on dry scalps.
It took home a Glow Pick Award and has a 4.5 star rating.
Many of the popular hair sprays in 2024 were foreign products. One Korean product that bucked that trend wasCha Hong Fix Volume Hair Spray.
However, even though it picked up an award it doesn't have the most rave reviews. Most reviewers mentioned that it offers a "natural fix" for the hair and has "decent staying power", which are hardly award worthy claims.
It only had a3.96 star rating on Glow Pick, which also seems low for an award winner.
This is a favourite of Korean makeup artists because it is an excellent product for naturally blending your hairline. It's cheap, cheerful and easy to use and doesn't cause breakouts for those with oilier skin types.
It won a Glow Pick Award in 2024 and has a4.32 star rating.
I think this product is a little more accurate than the root sprays for the front of your hair / your hairline. However I do still think the root sprays cover grey hairs a bit better.
I would recommend this for people who need to fix their hairline or if you have an uneven or patchy hairline with minimal greys. If you have a lot of greys I don’t think this is your best option.

A lot of reviews said things like "it turned out better than they thought" which… isn’t saying much.
It’s when you see this kind of thing that you start wondering a bit about the objectivity of review platforms and apps like Glow Pick and whether there aren’t other factors at play in what products win certain categories. Now obviously I am not suggesting that this is the case here, just that it makes you wonder.
