On the STYLE STORY YouTube channel we’re taking a look at one of the Korean beauty products that has taken the western world by storm.
K-Beauty label COSRX’s popular Blackhead Power Liquid is one of this year’s hottest skincare products, credited with transforming the complexions of beauty lovers and bloggers across the world.
So what is it and what does it do?
STYLE STORY takes an in-depth look here, and on our YouTube vlog.
WHAT IS IT?
COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid.
It is an oil-soluble chemical exfoliant that clears dead skin cells from deep within pores to minimise their appearance and prevent breakouts.
WHAT ARE BHAs?
Beta Hydroxy Acids.
They work by “degunking” pores.
Since BHAs are oil soluble, they penetrate through the oil that’s clogging your pores and exfoliate all of the dead skin cells that have built up inside.
This is why BHAs are recommended for those with oily skin.
BHAs also have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, help reshape pores, and allow other skincare products to better penetrate the skin.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
It prevents the formation of blemishes.
WHAT RESULTS WILL I NOTICE?
1 Softer skin
2 Clearer skin
3 Brighter skin
4 Fewer blackheads and blemishes
WHAT’S IN IT?
Betaine salicylate (4%)
Willow bark water – a natural source of BHAs, which have anti-inflammatory as well as exfoliant properties.
HOW TO USE
If it’s your first time using a BHA product, start off slowly. Only use it once to twice a week initially, then slowly build up your tolerance.
1 After cleansing (and after Vitamin C serum if you use one), apply a small amount of COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid to the target area morning or night.
2 Spread out an even amount to the rest of the face, avoiding the eye area.
3 Focusing on the target area with blackheads, massage lightly and allow full absorption.
4 For best results, wait 20-30 minutes before applying any other products to allow the acid to take effect without being prematurely neutralized.
NB. If you use COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid in the morning, make sure you apply sunscreen afterwards
Do not use if: You are sensitive to betaine salicylate or anything else in the ingredients list.
(Check with your doctor if you are already using a prescription-strength retinoid or if you have an aspirin allergy.)
