What Is It?
iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Serum is a hydrating 50ml serum.
It contains a range of fermented ingredients (galactomyces and adenosine), as well as rose water and niacinamide in the formula. It promises to hydrate skin, care for pores, brighten skin and care for wrinkles.
The formula is cruelty-free, meaning it hasn’t been tested on animals. It’s also scentless, for those who don’t like fragrances in their skincare products.
What’s In It?
We found it interesting that while the toner in iUNIK’s Rose Galactomyces line contains rose water as the main ingredient (with galactomyces as the secondary), this serum turns that formula on its head. In this formula, galactomyces makes up 50% of the formula and rose water as the secondary (at 10%).
Galactomyces is an Asian Beauty favourite. It is a type of yeast derived from rice wine fermentation that contains a variety of nutrients. It includes vitamins, minerals and amino acids, which all work to nourish the skin, brighten and smooth it.
Galactomyces is often included in cosmetic formulas for its superior hydrating abilities, along with its anti-ageing benefits. In general, you’ll notice brightening, smoothing and nourishing benefits from using it.
Thankfully, the formula in this serum doesn’t include oil, so it’s perfect for those looking to avoid oils in their beauty routine.
Rose water is a great addition, as it can help reduce redness, acne and damaged skin. If you suffer from enlarged pores and uneven skin tone, the niacinamide in this formula is also ideal, as it works to help boost the skin’s surface, smooth its tone and brighten it.
The second fermented ingredient is adenosine – a yeast-derived ingredient that functions as a soothing and skin-restoring agent. It has proven anti-wrinkle benefits.
How Do You Use It?
iUNIK’s Rose Galactomyces Serum can be incorporated into your routine both morning and night, as it’s lightweight and not as thick as other serums. A few drops onto cleansed, toned skin before moisturiser is all you’ll need to see results.
The serum comes in a sturdy, glass container with a glass dropper that makes for a hygienic application.
A few drops of serum absorb quickly and won’t leave you feeling sticky after applying it.
What Results Did You Notice Using It?
The first benefit we noticed straight away was the sebum control – this serum definitely helps maintain the correct balance of oil and moisture in the skin and prevents oily skin from turning into an oil slick.
The second thing we noticed was that glow! The galactomyces and niacinamide work in tandem to boost the skin and give it a healthy, dewy look. There’s no doubt that these two ingredients together really brighten the complexion.
If you suffer from fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes like us, the hydration in the formula helps to soften these so they are plumped and not as obvious. It’s a small change, but a welcome one.
The serum also layers nicely under sunscreen and makeup, meaning you can use it morning and night without a problem.

This serum is a great all-rounder and works well for most skin types.
If you have normal or dry skin, you’ll enjoy the brightening, hydrating and anti-ageing benefits.
If you’ve got oily or combination skin, you’ll also benefit from the oil-control properties.
TL;DR
Any Korean Beauty serum that’s cruelty-free, beautifully packaged and affordably priced tends to catch our attention.
But the thing we were most excited about when we saw this one was it’s ingredients list. As the name suggests, iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Serum contains one of our favourite K-Beauty ingredients, galactomyces, along with a new one we were keen to try – rose water.
The results? Brightening, hydrating and anti-aging benefits that are perfect for oily and combo skin!
